Controlling intestinal function

We investigated the controlling action for intestinal function by the oral administration of refined Rice Kefiran for 14 days in the rats initially fed the low-fibre diet for 21 days to induce constipation. The administration started from the 22nd day. The low-fibre diet was freely fed during this breeding period. Faeces naturally excreted were collected on the baseline, 7th, and 14th days and the faecal moisture and wet weight of faeces were determined.
The excretion amount and degree of moisture of faeces significantly increased depending on the concentration of refined Rice Kefiran. In the macroscopic observation during the dissection after the investigation, the hard stools accumulated in the large intestine were observed only in the control group.
